Murphy Christmas 2013

Image
Murphy Christmas can be summed up in a few words, organized chaos. Murphy Christmas is when 51 relatives come together to eat, drink, and play 500. It's the highlight to the end of year because it is always filled with great conversations, hardy laughs, and a lot of critical thinking during the 500 card tournament. Here are many shots of the organized chaotic event... Welcome to the JAWs Hotel (Jeff and Wendy's)!! This is a beautiful new age victorian inspired home. There are so many details of Wendy's decorations that makes it feel so homy. It always smells good and there is always beautiful sparkle through out the house. I captured a few here... The stockings are hung along the staircase with so much meaning. Each is adorned with sports pins, grandmothers broaches, misplaced earrings, pendants from necklaces, etc. What a great way to display them and add meaning, right? I had fun being the paparazzi as the guests arrived. Next we head inside and enter into a sea...

Dear Moms, hibernating activities.

Dear Moms, Sometimes it's hard to spend a whole day just you and the kids. Especially when it's day 1 of 7. And especially when you don't have anything special planned, and the weather isn't suitable for a simple walk outing. Sometimes these days are the hardest. The kids seem extra cranky, as are you, and nothing seems to keep their attention long enough for you to simply regroup and catch your breath. Since it's winter, I have a few hibernating activities to keep you (especially you) and the kiddos sane. 1. Take a shower. I don't care if you have to plop the kids down in front of a 30 minute movie or computer game, you need it for the small amount of quiet time it gives and to cleanse yourself. I also don't care if it's first thing in the morning, or at 2:00 in the afternoon. It will refresh yourself. 2. Treat yourself to something special during nap time. Apart from showering. Do something for yourself. For me, this would be the time I would t...

A Random Date Night

Image
This Wednesday night, Luke and I ventured out for a random date night. After shopping a few stores we found ourself at Barnes and Noble. I've longed to get back into Barnes and Noble and sip on a warm coffee while browsing books and journals. I never imagined my husband Luke being by my side. We traveled to the Starbucks on the right end of the store to get a vente cappuccino to share. I thought Luke would like it, but he grimaced after tasting the frothy coffee taste. Bad choice on my part. We slowly lurked the aisles mainly focused on trying to taste our hot drink. Since Luke had never been to Barnes and Noble I wanted to show him the children's section. I was giddy with excitement walking into the vibrant section, like it was the crown and jewel of the store. My eyes immediately began to dart to many books that I just want to flip open and read. The Fancy Nancy books, Little Critter books, "The Little Engine That Could", the Eric Carle books, the Magic School Bus b...
