Wedding Hype

Image
There is all this buz about getting married and planning a wedding in my family right now. It is an exciting new adventure for all of us because my sister, Lucy just got engaged. What has been frustrating for me is how do you plan for such an event! For me, I think about the overall appeal or presence I want others to feel when they are at the wedding. From the minute our family and friends pull up to the church and enter into the santuary to the very last dance. I want people to feel like they have retreated into a beautiful oasis of wedding bliss. All cares wisk away at the beauty and magnificance of the event and they are forced to retreat themselves into having a good time. This is my vision when I think about my wedding, but Lucy cares more about the specific people that are there for her and her husband, she cares more about the comfortability of everyone, and making sure people are involved and having a good time. So far Lucy has not surprised me too much in her wedding planning...

San Diego

I labeled this post San Diego because it is the story. I could give this post a plethera of names such as disappointment, anger, because of you, because of love, because I am scared, you told me to stay, but i'm sick of iowa, I want to experience the big world, etc. etc. etc. ( says the king from the king and I). But San Diego sums it up. I just graduated from Interior Design and throughout the last semester I began to consistently speak to my sister about the possibility of moving out to San Diego. The opportunity was supreme. I had nothing tying me down to good ol' Cedar Falls Iowa, to me, the only thing tying me down was my own fear, but that I was sure to conquer and prove to myself and everyone else that I am not a small town girl, but need a city of sun and excitement. I had everything in my hand, a place to stay (with my sister for free for atleast a few months while I got on my feet) and family/friends (also my sister, but only my sister). That was it, that was all I ca...

Danielle

Okay, so my sister Danielle has a blog and I inconsistantly read it, always thoroughly in awe of her faith and sincerity. It inspires me. Actually, what inspires me is her declaring of faith and the results of her faithful actions. Her stories are remarkable and speak volumns about the closeness of our creator in our lives. So, I am inspired, like I said before, to write about my battles with life and God and how I make it through due to his promised deliverance.

Lightning Storm

Tonight at 9:20 pm I was driving home from work on the highway and I had a wonderful peculiar view surrounding me. A lightning storm. As I was driving I couldn't stop thinking about how rare lightning storms are. I was caught wondering why we don't get blessed with these beautiful sights more, like a sunny warm day, a lightning day. More than only a few times a month. But then I am thinking, well I am usually not driving around or even out very late at night. So this makes me want to live in the country. In a wide open space where I can see lightning storms and the galaxy of stars and an endlessly clear day. I am awed by their seemingly rarity.

Got to love Knoll

Image
This photo is a tribute to my fellow interior design classmates. The fact that we can never get design out of our head and the more we learn and see works of designers the worse it gets. But really, useing the word worse is not the word to use. It's a wonderful thing to be able to recongize these pieces from such talented designers. I just hope that we will be known and remembered like them. Facts about this picture...The chair the child is sleeping is called The Womb Chair by Knoll International. Knoll International is a internationally recognized company known for its workplace furnishings.

Secret Santa Ideas

So, I was researching Secret Santa ideas because I was at a lost for awhile in what fun gifts to give under $5...but here are a few ideas if you ever in need of gift ideas:) 1. Dunken Doughnets coffee grounds: tie with a large ribbon around the package to add a little Christmas flare and add a note that says "I hope this makes you smile!" (it's Dunken Doughnets! Why wouldn't it make you smile!) 2. Gift cards for local coffee shops (please support our locals): many shops have cute holders the gift cards come in so you don't have to worry about wrapping them. Add a note that states your favorite item from the shop, like "I love the Pumpkin Chai Latte with the fudge brownie...treat yourself!!"

Chocolate chip cookies with pancake flour

Today I woke up to the wind swooshing by my windows. It was 8:30 am and school had been cancelled due to the severe weather. The first thing I did was open the shade to my window next to my bed. The window had that frosty lining around it but was clear enough in the middle that I could see our front street covered in fluffy whiteness. It was beautiful I thought. What also woke me was the sound of my roommates bustling about. Abby, was loudly freaking out about how she fell in the snow as she tried plowing her way to her work (conveniantly located across the street), but once she fell she decided the hassle was not worth it, and tronched the few steps back home. I roll out of bed with a slight chill, put on my pink slippers and walk downstairs. The roommatesare in the dining room looking out at the snowy bliss and howling away at there new excitement that James, our Australian tenant that lives below us, was scooping away the knee high snow on our porch. All of us are ooogling not only ...
